Rock Climbing in Yosemite

Rock Climb in Yosemite National Park

Yosemite National Park has to offer some of the world’s best and most challenging rock climbing surfaces. Employees at the Yosemite Mountaineering School and Guide Service instructors are recognized among the most skilled, big-wall climbers in the world. The Yosemite Mountaineering School and Guide Service is located at Curry Village and Tuolumne Meadows.

All the gear you need for rock climbing at Yosemite are available for hire. The expert instructors will guide you through all the basics and can outfit you with climbing necessities.

An all-day basic rock climbing lesson provides instruction on equipment and the correct use of hand and footholds, belays and rappels. Intermediate lessons teach setting belay anchors, use of nuts and runners, more difficult hand- and footholds, direct aid, jamcrack techniques and other more advanced procedures. Private guided climbs and instructions are also available.

Rock climbing lessons are available daily, from April through October, conditions permitting. In summer, the Yosemite Mountaineering School and Guide Service is located at Curry Village and Tuolumne Meadows. From November through March, guiding and instruction are available by reservation.

Note: Yosemite Tours do not take reservations for Rock Climbing.
